Street Interactive in history-making move into Colombia

Chicago-based Rush Street Interactive has become the first US gaming company to launch a regulated online sportsbook in Colombia.
The first country in South America to legalise and regulate internet gambling nationwide, Colombia is an appealing igaming market due to its reasonable tax rate and strong regulatory framework.

“RSI is thrilled to be the first US-based operator to enter the regulated Colombian online gaming market where there are over 48m people, a significant existing land-based casino market, and a player base that likes to gamble,” said Richard Schwartz, president and co-founder of Rush Street Interactive.
“Betting and sports are cultural passions in Colombia so we’re excited to combine those with our mission to provide players with compelling and trusted online gambling experiences.”

RSI will bring its proprietary online gaming platform to the Colombian market under the “Rush” brand, similar to its online casino site in New Jersey.

New igaming brand has become the latest operator to join the software platform of content and platform provider White Hat Gaming.

The new Gaming Act comes as the first revision of Malta’s gambling legislation in fourteen years and was initiated by the Malta Gaming Authority’s former Executive Chairman, Joseph Cuschieri.

The AGA campaigned for legalised sports betting in the latter stages of New Jersey’s protracted litigation for sports betting liberalisation in which it was opposed by the national sports leagues.

Experts are mentioning numbers as further proof that the Georgian government needs to get a hold of the evidently out-of-control gambling industry.
